iQ Solutions awarded $7-million National Health Information Center Contract
The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP), part of the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, has awarded iQ Solutions a new $7-million contract to manage the National Health Information Center (NHIC).
For the past 10 years, iQ Solutions has worked with ODPHP on various projects including 7 years on the NHIC project as a subcontractor to manage the toll-free 800 number. Now, iQ Solutions is the prime contractor and will have responsibility for the rest of project, including management of healthfinder.gov; health.gov, and a new Web-based collaborative workspace. iQ Solutions plans to introduce new Web 2.0 applications and many other innovations to this project and demonstrate broad health content knowledge, as NHIC spans the entire health arena.
According to ODPHP, the proposal put forth by iQ Solutions really stood out from those of competitors. They said it specified the right staffing, a well-crafted and presented technical approach with lots of ideas and innovation, topped off by a great oral presentation. The iQ Solutions proposal was titled “Empowering the customer with information that improves health for everyone.”
NHIC is a health information referral service that puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide answers. NHIC was established in 1979 by the ODPHP, Office of Public Health and Science, Office of the Secretary, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
