The theme of the American Public Health Association’s (APHA’s) annual gathering this year was to “Create the Healthiest Nation: Ensure the Right to Health,” a goal we share at IQ Solutions. For that reason, we are proud to be a major sponsor of this annual event.
We believe strongly that APHA, this nation’s largest gathering of public health officials, is the best opportunity to share best practices in public health, to forge deep partnerships and friendships, to identify new employees and employers, to work with educational institutions offering accredited public health programs and committing to higher education, and to be inspired and refueled for another year of the work that motivates us and that we all love.
This year, plenary speakers like Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper and Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, reminded us of our challenges and our achievements in public health. Above all, they inspired us to forge ahead to realize improved health for all—to devote ourselves to equitable access to health care and the many components of a healthy environment.
IQ Solutions’ name was seen around the venue on name tags, monitors, and on the APHA mobile application. In the exhibit hall, we talked about IQ Solutions’ work with the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to develop public service announcements as part of a co-sponsorship agreement with Give an Hour for the Campaign to Change Direction. A visit to our booth meant chatting about how we are positioning virtual reality as a tool to improve public health. And it meant learning about becoming part of our respected organization, which has been recognized not only for its stellar public health achievements, but has also been repeatedly named a Washington Post Top Workplace and one of the Washington Business Journal’s Healthiest Employers.
IQ Solutions employees also showcased a few of our most current innovations in the poster sessions, workshops, and special sessions. We presented a poster on a new methodology for more accurately measuring user behaviors on our website and our clients’ websites. We were also active participants in the session rooms, where we joined SAMHSA to share information about our in-house research and development of SAMHSA’s new MATx mobile application, which links providers of medication-assisted treatment for opioid abuse with the valuable resources they need to improve patient outcomes.
Our participation in APHA 2016 has made IQ Solutions richer in the new friends and colleagues we made, in the new knowledge we gained and shared, and in the reinforcement of our driving conviction to make a difference in the quality of as many lives possible and to ensure the right to health for all.
See you again on Nov. 4–8 in Atlanta for APHA 2017!
